National Police Service declares Kikuyu musician Samuel Muchoki, alias Samidoh, deserter for failing to report for duty

Popular Kikuyu musician and Administration Police Constable Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, better known as Samidoh, has been declared a deserter by the National Police Service after reportedly failing to resume duty following official leave.
A police memo dated June 9, 2025, states that Samidoh, who is attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (MTD Company), was expected to resume duty on May 27 but has not reported back.

"The officer was granted an off-duty and was supposed to report back on May 27, 2025, but he failed. Since then, he has not been seen and his whereabouts are not known,” the memo reads.
According to the communication, all efforts to trace him have failed, and with his absence exceeding 10 days, he was officially declared a deserter effective June 6.
The memo was circulated from Stockpol Gilgil to senior police officers across the country, including the Directorate of Inspector General, APS, Vigilance House in Nairobi, the Central Records Office (CRO), and all Station Police Commanders.
As part of disciplinary measures, the pay section of the police service has been instructed to stop his salary immediately.
At the same time, Stockpol MTD Company has been tasked with initiating further administrative steps against him.
CRO Nairobi has also been directed to include the desertion notice in the upcoming edition of the National Police Gazette.
The Stapol in Gatumbiro has been ordered to visit Samidoh’s home and arrest him if found there.
